As a Ballistic Analysis Engineer, you will have a unique opportunity to combine physics, simulation, and testing – and become a key person in the development of both current and future weapon systems within naval and land-based defense technology. You will be part of a team of experienced engineers who are passionate about advanced technology and knowledge sharing.
About the Position
Ballistics is a technical area that encompasses everything that happens inside the barrel during firing – from pressure development and muzzle velocity to flow dynamics, recoil, and sound pressure. In this role, you will work with both theoretical analyses and practical tests, in an environment where technology and safety are central. You will work in cross-functional teams and be an important part of providing decision support for our products from a ballistic perspective.
You will contribute to projects related to the world-leading artillery system ARCHER, Combat Vehicle 90, and the future's intelligent ammunition in medium and large calibers.
Responsibilities and Tasks
- Conduct analyses within ballistics related to pressure, heat, flow, and motion in the barrel.
- Optimize performance such as muzzle velocity and pressure development.
- Dimension and design propellant charges.
- Determine launch loads and evaluate recoil processes and sound pressure.
- Use both commercial and in-house developed software for simulations and analyses.
- Combine theoretical calculations with practical testing activities.
- Participate in multiple projects simultaneously and provide decision support regarding performance, functionality, and safety.
- Work closely with colleagues from different disciplines and backgrounds.
- Participate in skill development, both internally and externally – including international conferences and workshops.
Qualifications:
- Master's degree in engineering physics, mechanical engineering, or equivalent field.
- Alternatively, other education or experience deemed equivalent.
- Experience in similar technical areas is advantageous but not required.
- Understanding of or interest in ballistic systems is a plus.
- The corporate language is English, so you are expected to have good knowledge of both English and Swedish, both spoken and written.
Personal Qualities:
- You are engaged, structured, and able to independently drive your work forward.
- You thrive in an environment with many contact points and are communicative in both speech and writing.
- You are collaborative and have an easy time working in cross-functional teams.
- You have good problem-solving skills, an analytical mindset, and are not afraid to switch between different types of tasks.
- You are curious about world-class technology – and want to be part of developing it.
